Who, what, and why are the Blooze Hownz?
The core of the Blooze Hownz is composed of Steve Vincent,
on guitar; Dave Elfert, on drums; and Mark Mitchell on bass - that’s who. Sometimes other musicians sit or stand
in. That’s the kind of folks Steve, Dave, and Mark are.
What can we say about what the Blooze Hownz is?
We can start by noting that it is a group dedicated to playing an eclectic mix of old blues, blues standards, folk tunes,
and even some classic rock. Plus the occasional original work. Usually the material is familiar, but not over-exposed. They
play songs others don’t, or won’t - songs meaningful to the band, and to their fans.
Why do the Blooze Hownz do what they do? Need you wonder? The most uniquely American music is the blues. The premier
bluesman Willie Dixon proclaimed that, unlike much other music, which is often grounded in fantasy, the blues speak the Truth
- the reality of a faithless woman, a wandering man, a hard boss, a pair of dice showing snake eyes. Blues finds you in the
pit and revives your spir...it. So, why play the blues? It’s medicine, man.
And where are the Blooze Hownz to be found? Playing
weekend gigs. In and around this town Baton Rouge, La. And simultaneously on the clouds of Nirvana. They are, dancingly, in
the blues - where it’s at.
