MEKONG DELTA BLUES
I
was raised in the 60's Grew up real fast Watching the war on TV Marines really kicked ass There’s only one problem
I can't seem to lose I can't seem to shake those Mekong Delta Blues
You see I went to college Cause high school
was a breeze But college was different Really knocked me to my knees Didn’t make the gradeMy draft number came
due I can't seem to shake those Mekong Delta Blues
(Chorus) Delta Blues, Delta Blues From my head down
to my shoes I can't seem to lose Those Mekong Delta Blues
The weather is lousy Hot and wet you see I'm
steady dodging bullets Gooks are shooting at me My boots are all funky Full of mud and guts and goo I can't shake
those Mekong Delta Blues
My tour is almost over I'm heading home real soon My girlfriend won't be waiting She
ran off with some goon Gotta find a job Flipping burgers or serving stew I can't seem to shake those Mekong Delta
Blues
Delta Blues, Delta Blues From my head down to my shoes I can't seem to lose Those Mekong Delta Blues

Growing up in the 60's the Vietnam war was on the 6 o'clock news every night. Vivid images of wounded soldiers,
body counts, the horrors of war, filtered and on display. Makes you stop and think. I just can't get over it.
