Original Lyrics

NOWHERE TO GO

I been wanderin round, Since the break of day

Walked all over town, Can’t seem to find my way

It’s cold and raining, Feeling lost and old

Truth is baby, I got nowhere to go

I once had a family, Big house and nice car

Boss was really happy, Said I could go far

But I danced with the devil, Lost my mortal soul

Gotta tell ya baby, I got nowhere to go

Nowhere to go, Nowhere to go

Nowhere to go, Nowhere to go

Traded my good life, For trouble and strife

Now I know, I got nowhere to go

Now I’m sick and homeless, Livin life in pain

Spend my beggin money On booze and crack cocaine

Lost and alone, With nuthin to show

Telling you honey, I got nowhere to go

Nowhere to go, Nowhere to go

Nowhere to go, Nowhere to go

Traded my good life, For trouble and strife

Now I know for sho,  I got nowhere to go

I got lost in North Baton Rouge, not a nice place. The things I saw there, an old man pushing his life in a shopping cart, an old-looking young woman peddling herself, people sleeping in the ditches and under the highway, caused me to write this song.
